Evidence-Based Trauma Therapy: A Holistic and Faith-Integrated Approach

Finding the right support for trauma is a deeply personal process. Many people look for a therapeutic space where their core beliefs are understood from the very beginning. A therapy environment that honours a shared worldview can bring a genuine sense of safety and ease, allowing you to focus entirely on your healing without needing to explain or defend your faith.

Our Approach to Trauma Healing

At Life to the Full (LTF), we approach trauma through a holistic, Christian framework called the "theology of the body". This simply means we view humans as whole beings, and we understand that trauma is often carried physically in the body.

We teach that physical symptoms like a racing heart, chest tightness, or an involuntary twitch are not signs of your body betraying you. Instead, your body is sharing important information about a past hurt that needs care and attention.

Evidence-Based Therapy at Life To The Full

Evidence-based therapy means using methods that have been proven to work through scientific research. Instead of relying only on theory, these methods have been carefully tested to ensure they actually help people heal. At LTF, we are committed to these proven approaches, making sure you receive care that meets the highest professional standards.

For trauma specifically, we rely heavily on an approach called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is a body-based therapy. It focuses on helping you tune into your body’s physical responses, allowing you to safely process past hurts in a highly secure and supportive environment.

Working with a Trauma Specialist

Our team is led by our Clinical Director, David Schofield, who has dedicated and specialized training in trauma counseling and EMDR therapy.

For individuals navigating deep trauma, working with a professional equipped with this advanced training provides a safe, expertly guided path to help process difficult memories gently

Safely Integrating Your Faith

As registered psychologists, our team is required to use scientifically proven methods. Because of this, we operate formally as "psychologists who share a Christian worldview". This beautifully bridges professional care with spiritual support for anyone seeking help, whether locally or online.

We use a highly respectful, "client-informed" approach. This means theology is never forced upon you; you are entirely in control of how much or how little faith is discussed.

  • A Shared Foundation: If you choose to bring your faith into the room, we can add a meaningful, spiritual layer to your therapy.

  • Gentle Exploration: We might gently explore questions like, "Where do you think God is in this space?" or "What might God be saying to you in that suffering?"

This approach allows you to safely work through trauma while drawing on the profound hope, strength, and grace of a larger redemptive story.
