Doug Angus
Clinical Psychologist
Doug holds a Master of Clinical Psychology (Charles Sturt University), is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and holds endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Prior to working in private practice, Doug worked as a high school teacher as well as in school counselling/psychology in metropolitan, regional and remote schools. This experience has given him a passion for supporting those serving in school communities to thrive in these rewarding but often challenging and complex roles.
Doug has previously worked with faith-based organisations and completed a Master of International and Community Development from Deakin University in 2013. He is passionate in supporting those seeking to navigate these complex opportunities to serve others well in cross-cultural contexts.
Doug welcomes the opportunity to work from a faith-informed framework where desired. His main therapeutic orientation, when working with adults, draws heavily on schema therapy, which focuses on a strong clinician-client relationship to uncover core emotional needs. This allows clients to both understand and address patterns of behaviour that are keeping them stuck. This style of therapy fosters a strong sense of self-compassion while simultaneously guiding clients to identify maladaptive coping mechanisms and explore healthier ways of responding.
