FAQ: How do we ensure you're matched with the most suitable support at Life To The Full?
At Life to the Full, we are often asked how we ensure our clients are matched with the most suitable support for their unique needs, all in pursuit of holistic Christian flourishing. Our approach is founded on our multidisciplinary team, which includes clinical psychologists, registered psychologists, relationship counsellors, and spiritual counsellors, all operating within a clinical psychology framework.
Here's how we determine the most appropriate path for your wellbeing:
Initial Engagement and Self-Selection:
When you first connect with us, you have the option to self-select a professional based on the descriptions of our services available on our website. We recognise this initial choice as a brave first step in your journey.
Comprehensive Assessment of Underlying Issues:
During your initial sessions, our practitioners focus on "downloading" your experiences to gain a thorough understanding of your situation. We carefully discern if the primary underlying issue stems from:
◦ A spiritual issue, such as wrestling with God or a misunderstanding of biblical principles.
◦ A mental or emotional health issue, like depression, anxiety, or relationship difficulties. We address a wide range of issues, including mood disorders, relationship challenges, and addiction.
Internal Triage for Specialised Care:
Our model allows for internal triage, meaning that if, based on the initial self-selection or ongoing assessment, another professional within our team appears to be a more appropriate fit for your primary underlying issue, we may recommend an internal referral. This process is always conducted with your explicit permission and requires a signed confidentiality waiver to ensure your privacy and trust are paramount.
Trauma-Focused Interventions:
For clients presenting with trauma-related concerns – often described as "past hurts," "issues from your childhood," or experiences in an "abusive relationship" – which frequently leave individuals feeling unsafe, powerless, or unworthy, our preferred pathway is typically through our psychological services. Our Clinical Director, David Scoffield, has specialised training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), which is recognised as an increasingly effective therapeutic modality for trauma. Should EMDR feel too confronting, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is another established pathway for trauma recovery, also utilised by our psychologists. While spiritual counselling is available, the preference for trauma cases is to begin within a clinical psychological framework.
Marriage and Relationship Counselling:
For relationship difficulties, including marriage and pre-marital challenges, we have dedicated professionals. Monica Cook, our Head of Sex & Relationships, is an accredited relationship counsellor. Our Founding Director, Chris Cipollone, is an accredited facilitator of the "Prepare and Enrich" program, which forms the basis of our pre-marital counselling approach. This service aims to help couples understand their strengths and weaknesses preventatively, fostering commitment beyond mere compatibility. We believe there is no shame in seeking marriage counselling, and it can be a sign of true strength.
Our ultimate commitment is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore your challenges. We firmly believe that acknowledging your vulnerabilities and seeking professional support is a sign of true strength. Our services are designed to be Google effective, ensuring that those seeking help can easily find us, and to take the load off our front desk by providing clear, accessible information.
